Bikes, Babes & Bling

OK, I was aware that it was only the second year for the Bikes, Babes & Bling Rally in Fayetteville, AR. But DAMN. With the amazing success of Bikes, Blues & BBQ held in September in the same place, I certainly would have thought that the sponsors would have their s**t together better.
Four of us went down there with hopes of having a great time at the rally only to be sorely disappointed. Good thing that we can make our own fun! We salvaged the weekend by enjoying the ride and the time we spent together talking, watching movies and playing games. A shopping trip to Pig Trail Harley-Davidson helped too:)
Live and learn I guess, give a "rally" at least 5 years to get established before expecting to have a good time!

No Clicks

I didn't like "clicks" in high school, and I don't like them now. I remember a couple of years ago someone complained to me that our H.O.G. Chapter was too much of a click. They felt left out, and were not going to renew their membership. It bothered me so much that I bent over backwards to change the way things were done, to make sure everyone was included and felt welcomed to the Chapter. Those people, I am happy to say are still members. What does not make me too happy is that they are now part of a click within the Chapter and outside the Chapter that does not include my husband and I. Not a big deal really, but it makes me wonder if they realize that they are a click, the very thing that they disliked when they themselves were feeling left out of the loop. Friendship is a fragile thing... it can be hurt easily, starved to death or over-burdened. And yet keeping a friendship strong is a fairly simple thing to do, just treat others the way you would like to be treated. Why is that so hard for some people? I can be friends with more than just a couple of people at a time. It isn't hard. I can even be friends with people who are friends with people I do not care for. That is sometimes awkward, but still do-able. Why is it so hard for others? Why is it that even as adults people form clicks? Pack mentality? Tribal perhaps? Herd instinct? It's kind of funny when you think of it in those terms. But I still don't like them.
